Remember when listening to music in a stereo shop was a relaxed, personal experience? It still is, at Stereotypes Audio. Located in Portland, Oregon, we’re the premier stereo store in the Northwest, providing top-name brands and real-people prices.

At Stereotypes, we’re proud of being a high-quality, affordable alternative to the big-box stores. You’ll experience the difference when you walk in our door. We’re passionate about music, and how it should sound.

Stereotypes is the brainchild of Teri Inman, owner. She’s enjoyed a lifelong passion for music that included a stint in an all-girl rock band in high school and the literal wearing out of her extensive vinyl collection in college, where “I was listening to music when I should have been studying,” Teri laughs.

In 1994, she opened Stereotypes in the Irvington neighborhood of Portland. The store was relocated to Morrison Place in 2007.

As a female business owner in a male-dominated field, Teri was very conscientious about creating the ideal setting for music appreciation for both men and women; an environment where everyone feels more at home than in a store.

Your source for the finest home audio.
Echo Audio is, in the immortal words of Smokey Robinson, “really, really real.” This is no small thing in the smoke-and-mirrors world of the Internet. For over 28 years, Echo Audio has been a real home stereo shop in Portland, Oregon (where there’s no sales tax, by the way).

It’s a hi-fi lovers dreamland, with towering wooden racks filled with an eclectic mix of new and used equipment. And it’s locally owned and operated.
